Originally, the aircraft was used by Airbus for test flights.

In 2000 OE-LAO was integrated in the the Austrian Airlines Longrange fleet. It was named "GroĂźglockner", the highest mountain in Austria.

After the merger with Lauda Air, Austrian had a pretty horrible Longrange Fleet mix. A330, A340, B767, B777.

So the A330 Fleet was sold to TAP in 2007.

TAP named the plane after the painter Nuno Gonçalves and operated it until 2018.
