JY-AYY represents a remarkable piece of Middle Eastern aviation history. Originally delivered to Juneyao Airlines in 2006, this Airbus A319 later joined the Rossiya fleet, where it operated from 2013 to 2019. Royal Jordanian took command of the aircraft in 2019, incorporating it into its distinctive red-and-black-themed fleet and flying it proudly until the end of its service life.

Royal Jordanian, founded in 1963, is the flag carrier of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and a distinguished ambassador of Jordanian warmth and hospitality. Operating from its hub at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, the airline connects Jordan to key destinations worldwide with reliability, comfort and regional elegance.

Royal Jordanian’s aircraft livery is one of the most distinctive in the Middle East, and each color carries symbolic meaning tied to Jordan’s identity:

• Dark grey: Represents elegance, strength, and modernity. It provides the signature sleek backdrop of the Royal Jordanian fleet.

• Red: Inspired by the crimson of the keffiyeh (the traditional Jordanian headdress) and the colors of the Hashemite dynasty, symbolizing heritage, bravery, and national pride.

• Gold: Reflects hospitality, warmth, and the rich cultural history of Jordan. It also evokes the golden tones of Petra and the country’s desert landscapes.

• Grey/Silver: Conveys sophistication and a modern, premium travel experience.

Together, these colors create a livery that blends national symbolism with a refined, contemporary look—making Royal Jordanian aircraft instantly recognizable around the world.
